Nationals 2017 Trip Information

We hope all is well with you all inshaaAllah! This post has everything you need to know for Nationals 2017. Please read through it all and make sure everyone on your team does so as well. A detailed itinerary and checklist will be shared closer to the trip.

The total cost for a competitor or guest’s registration ($75), hotel ($73), and bus ($130) this year is $278. If you are confirmed to attend Nationals, you must fill out our Confirmation Form regardless of whether or not you are traveling with the team. If you are interested in purchasing bus and/or hotel accommodations, please make your payments at the bottom of the page before filling out the form. The form and payments are due June 30th.


REGISTRATION DEADLINES & FEES

  • Early registration deadline: June 23rd
  • Late registration deadline: June 30th
  • Competitor registration fee: $75 (will increase to $80 at 11:59 PM EST on June 23rd)
  • Guest registration fee: $75 (will increase to $80 at 11:59 PM EST on June 23rd)
  • Coach registration fee: $45 (if your team is above a 1:10 coach to competitor ratio)

Just as you did for Regionals, you must have your teams paid for and approved by a coach by June 30th. If your team does not have a coach, please email newyork@getmistified.com so that an organizer may act as your coach (allowed at the national but not regional level).

To apply for financial aid, please fill out the Financial Aid Form and submit it by 11:59 PM EST on June 16th. Financial aid requests will be evaluated on a rolling basis by MIST Detroit. Competitors who submit an application should not finalize or close their team’s registration until a decision is rendered. COMPETITIONS

The top 3 in Basketball, and top 4 in all other competitions are eligible to compete at Nationals. Competitors can only register for competitions they qualify for.

Coalition Teams

Please pay attention to the following rules for coalition teams (combination of schools):

  • Group Projects (1-6 competitors – note that the minimum has changed to 1 competitor for all group projects for Nationals 2017)
  • MIST Quiz Bowl (2-6 competitors)
  • Debate (2 competitors)
  • Improv (4-6 competitors)
  • Basketball (4-10 competitors)

Each coalition team must email registration@getmistified.com by 11:59 PM EST on June 30th to approve their coalition team. The email should include the complete list of competitor names, the school name and team name each competitor is registered with, the region they are competing from, and the competition they are competing in, for each coalition team (please follow example below).

GUEST REGISTRATION

To Register a Guest (for registered competitors and coaches)

  1. Log in to your Adderpit account, and click on the Registration tab at the top center of the page.
  2. Click on Register Guests on the left menu.
  3. Input the necessary information and press submit.

Repeat steps 2-3 if you are registering more than one guest, e.g., if your parents are coming, you need to go through this process for each of them.

To Pay for a Guest (for the individual registering the guest):

Guests cannot pay for themselves on Adderpit. The person registering the guest must pay for the guests in addition to their own fee. So, a competitor registering his/her parents will have a balance of $225 to pay ($75 for him/herself and $75 for each parent). Payments can only be made via card.

Please note that a team cannot be closed on Adderpit, which is necessary to finish registration, until all members of the team including guests are paid for. If you have registered guests and can no longer pay for them and/or your guests no longer want to attend, the guests need to be removed from your account.

To Delete a Guest:

  1. Log in to your Adderpit account, and click on the Registration tab at the top center of the page.
  2. Click on Register Guests on the left menu.
  3. Any registered guests will appear under Guest List. Click the red x under action next to the name of the guest you want to remove.

HOTEL & BUS FEES

Hotel Accommodations

Crowne Plaza – Detroit Riverfront

2 Washington Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226

$73/person for two nights (7/28 and 7/29) with four occupants per room.

WiFi and Complimentary Breakfast included.

Please note that MIST NY will be submitting a group hotel request for all of their attendees. You will not be able to book rooms at the same hotel on your own for the same prices. If you would like fewer occupants per room, you may request such by emailing newyork@getmistified.com, and we will email you an adjusted invoice. Please note that you would be required to cover the full cost of the room.

Travel Accommodations

MIST NY has booked 2 LX Coach buses with 56 seats each to be used to/from Wayne State University and Jamaica Muslim Center, to/from the university and hotel each day, and to/from the field trip. The buses will leave from JMC on the evening of July 27th and return on the morning of July 31st. The cost for a bus seat is $130 round-trip.

Please note that those who will be traveling to/from Detroit and NY on their own will be responsible for making their own arrangements to and from the university/hotel/field trip. Only those who pay for a seat will be able to use the buses while at Detroit.


CONFIRMATION & PAYMENTS

Anyone who is confirmed to attend Nationals must fill out our Confirmation Form. If you are interested in purchasing bus and/or hotel accommodations, please make your payments at the bottom of the page before filling out the form. All payments are due June 30th. We will update you all if we see seats seem to be going at a faster-anticipated rate.

Please note that there will be NO REFUNDS for purchased hotel reservations or bus seats. All payments are final. Competitors may opt for purchasing only a bus seat, or only a hotel spot, but are responsible for their own transportation and/or lodging if they choose to do so. Competitors relying on the team for the entirety of the trip should select the package option covering both the hotel and the bus.
